Shahid Beheshti University, IICAS Ink Co-op MoU

Iranian Research Center on the Silk Road based in Shahid Beheshti University in Tehran and International Institute for Central Asian Studies (IICAS) have signed a cooperation Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to carry out joint research projects.

According to an ISCA report, officials of Shahid Beheshti Research Center on the Silk Road and IICAS signed a cooperation MoU on the sidelines of the International Conference on the (Ancient) Silk Road, held in the western Iranian city of Hamedan.

Based on the MoU, both sides are obliged to conduct joint research-based projects, cooperate on holding conferences internationally and hold specialized meetings on the Silk Road along with close relations with the member states and UNESCO.

The main objectives of IICAS, established in August 1995 in Samarkand (Uzbekistan) as a direct outcome of the UNESCO Silk Roads Expeditions, are to focus on historical and cultural issues relating to the countries of Central Asia, bringing these to the attention of the international community and strengthening collaboration between local scholars and their colleagues abroad through a multidisciplinary study of the region.
