Iranian Researchers have succeeded to produce deionized water from rainwater in order to supply drinking water.

According to an ISCA report, Iranian researchers, supported by Water, Drought, Erosion, and Environment Technologies Development Headquarter, began their research activities at the faculty of Natural Resources and Marine Sciences of Tarbiat Modares University in Mazandaran province.

The research project executor, Nader Bahramifar, explained that reducing reliance on common sources of water such as surface water, well and sea is the main goal of this project.

He continued that due to the low water hardness in comparison with urban water supply pipe networks, removing the facilities needed to reduce water hardness has been considered as another goal in this research.

Bahramifar finally declared that this project can be applied in any organization or university with adequate rainfall levels.
