IAU Researchers Make Hydraulic Knee Joint for People with Disabilities

Researchers of Najafabad Islamic Azad University have developed hydraulic knee joint to provide variable resistance, enabling amputees to walk comfortably.

According to an ISCA report, Reza Iranpour explained about the product, he presented at the 20th Exhibition of Research and Technological Achievements, and said that the project has been carried out in order to provide stance phase control and swing phase control for persons with an amputation.

He added that unlike its foreign samples, this lightweight hydraulic joint which is made of military-grade aluminum alloy, has stance flexion resistance which facilitates crossing uneven surfaces or slope.

As Iranpour declared, the prototype has been completed and is ready to be commercialized; also required process for creating the university and industry relation will be done in near future.
