Iran is "Unstoppable” Waiting For its First Successful Orbital Launch

The spokesman for the Iranian Space Agency (ISA) has stated that the country has launched its domestically-made Zafar (Triumph) satellite using a Simorgh (Phoenix) satellite carrier, but the missile fell short of reaching the designated orbit.

According to the Press TV report, although the launch of Simorgh satellite carrier rocket was successful, the satellite did not reach the initial acceleration which is necessary to place itself in the orbit.

This scientific and technological advancement is another aerospace success for Iran on the eve of the anniversary of the Islamic Revolution. It took Simorgh, the Satellite carrier, 9 minutes to place Zafar in the Leo orbit which is 530 kilometers away from the earth.

Zafar is a remote sensing satellite of 113 kilograms. It has three important tasks: capturing images, storing and sending data, and finally measuring space radiation. It has a shelf life of two years and will rotate in a circular orbit with an inclination of 56 degrees.

Iran is one of the 11 nations in the world with the capability of designing, building and launching satellites. In fact, the Iranian Space Agency plans to manufacture image satellites, with an accuracy of one meter, by 2025. That’s the same year Iran's current National Vision Program ends.

After the failure of Zafar satellite launch, Iran's Minister of Information and Communication Technology Mohammad Javad Azari Jahromi said in a Twitter post that despite the failure "we're unstoppable," promising that "We have more Upcoming Great Iranian Satellites!"
