CORC Deputy Minister:

Trading and Agricultural Systems Cooperation Required to Manage Water Resources

Deputy Minister and Head of the Central Organization for Rural Cooperatives of Iran (CORC) has stated that the cooperation of both trading and agricultural systems are being required to manage water resources in our country.

According to an ISCA report, the meeting of the Central Council of Trade and Agricultural Systems of the country has been held at the hall of the Ministry of Agricultural Jihad with the presence of Abbas Keshavarz, Iranian deputy agriculture minister.

During to the meeting of Central Council of Trade and Agricultural Systems of the country, Dr. Hossein Shirzad, Deputy Minister and Head of the Central Organization for Rural Cooperatives of Iran (CORC), explained about the farmers’ problems in water governance system and said that public and private sectors are responsible to manage water resources in various countries.

He declared that the cooperation of both trading and agricultural systems are being required to manage water resources in our country right now, “which will lead to a fair distribution of water resources.”

Dr. Shirzad also proposed another solution which is holding international forums and continued that the subject of water governance should be discussed in the committees of the Ministry of Energy, “on the other hand, water tariffs are very important. Trade unions must express their views and defend the interests of the farmers and the agricultural sector of the country.”

Mentioning the issue of taxation in the agricultural sector Dr. Shirzad noted that such an important subject can play significant role in the future of agricultural sector.

In line with reducing market margins and achieving a fair price system, he said that presence of trade unions in the fruit and vegetable fields is required.
