Campaign of Empathy

Iranian companies and organizations have collected more than 7 trillion rials (approximately equal to $30.43 million) of donations after Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei called for a Quranic campaign of charity to help COVID’s economic victims.

Ayatollah Khamenei called for a national campaign, which was later dubbed as “the National Campaign of Empathy with Iran”, in early April based on a verse from chapter 23 of the holy Quran where the scripture calls upon the followers of God to be competitive for helping the others.

The call was welcomed by the masses, officials, private and state companies, and a lot of Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), in a way that a group of these entities together managed to canvass more than 7 trillion rials (approximately equal to $30.43 million) in just 31 days.

The Mostazafan Foundation of the Islamic Revolution, the Bureau for Execution of Imam Khomeini’s Order, the Ministry of Information and Communications Technology of Iran and some leading telecommunications companies including Snap, Tapsi, MCI, RighTel were among the entities in the group.

Accordingly, more than 2 million people joined the nationwide campaign to help those who have suffered the most from the COVID-19 crisis. Now, with the second wave of COVID-19 taking the society aback, the Leader has called for a second campaign.

Iran’s Biggest University Joins the Campaign

IAU Director General for Cultural and Social Affairs Seyyed Kazem Yekani said that the Islamic Azad University will further contribute to the second round of “the National Campaign of Empathy with Iran”, with tapping into its numerous campuses’ capacities.

The IAU is the biggest university in the Middle East and the whole Islamic world, offering academic services in more than 400 campuses across Iran and the whole region.
